Paroxysms of hemicrania, stinging pain as from within to without, in one side of the forehead or side of the head (mostly in the left side), with nausea (and vomiting) and contraction of the eye ; worse in the room and when walking fast, better in the open air and when lying on the painful side.

[15] Boring headache from within to without, from the forenoon till evening, worse from motion and stooping, relieved by rest, when closing the eyes, from external pressure, and sleep.

Pressing headache, as if the head should burst and the eyes fall out, with nausea.

Sensation of coldness on the vertex ; worse from moving the head and stooping, better when at rest and in the open air.

Pulsating headache in the cerebellum, beginning in the morning, worse in the evening, from the least motion, when turning the eyes, when lying on the back, better when closing the eyes and when at rest.

Headache, as from commotion of the brain when stepping or when shaking the head, better when sitting up or from slow exercise.

[20] Shooting pains, especially over the left eye, extorting cries.

External coldness of the head.

Eruptions on the vertex and back part of the head dry, offensive stinging, itching and tingling, with cracks, extending behind the ears, feeling sore when scratching them.

Swelling on one side of the head above the temple, with itching ; sensation of coldness and tearing in it ; worse when touching it ; better when lying on it, or after rising from the bed.

Involuntary jerking of the head backwards (or forward), principally in the forenoon and when sitting.

[25] Sensitiveness of the roots of the hair ; worse in the evening, to contact, cold north wind, when lying on the painless side, and burning after scratching.

Fontanelles remain open, with jerking of the head, pale bloated face, stomacace, green diarrhoeic stools.

Perspiration on the head, smelling sour, with faintish weakness ; worse in the evening before going to sleep.

Disposition to take cold on the head from dry, cold wind, and if the head gets wet.

Itching on the head (nose and eyes).

[30] Falling off of the hair.

Small red pimples on the forehead ; rough forehead.

Eyes.

Pressure on the eyeballs.

Inflammation of the eyes, with redness and stinging pain.

Burning of the eyes in the morning.

The eyelids pain in the morning when awaking, as if they were too heavy, and as if he could not keep them open.

Inability to open the eyelids at night.

Heaviness and falling down of the upper eyelids as if they were paralyzed.

Inflammation of the eyelids ; nightly agglutination of the eyes.

Great sensitiveness of the eyes to the light of day.

Yellow color of the white of the eyes.

Black spots hovering and swimming before the eyes.

Stinging in the (left) ear.

Discharge of thin matter from the ear.

Nose.

Nose swollen and inflamed, especially on the tip.

Tip of the nose scurfy.

Violent bleeding of the nose, and blowing of blood from the nose.

Loss of smell, or fetid smell before the nose.

Ozoena ; blowing of large lumps of yellow green mucus or yellow green membranes, with blood, from the nose.

Face.

[60] Pale yellow puffiness of the face, with blue margins around the eyes.

Yellow color of the face (and of the white of the eyes).

Yellow saddle across the nose and face.

Yellowness around the mouth.

Tetters around the mouth.

[65] Moist, scaly eruptions in the red parts of the lips and on the chin.

Swelling of the under lip.

Erysipelas and swelling of one side of the face from the root of a decayed tooth.

Herpes, scurfs and black pores in the face.

Neuralgic pains in the face (left side, from abuse of tobacco).

Mouth and Throat.

[70] Toothache ; stinging, pulsating, extending to the ear during pregnancy, with shortness of breath, with swelled face and swelling of the submaxillary glands, aggravated from every cold draft of air, when touching the teeth, and when talking.

The teeth are dull, loose, bleed easily and decay rapidly.

Gums painfully swollen, bleeding without any cause.

Bad smell from the mouth.

Tongue and cavity of the mouth feel as if scalded.

[75] Tongue coated white.

Soreness of the tip of the tongue.

Dryness of the throat, with tension and scraping.

Soreness and stinging in the throat, with swelling of the submaxillary glands.

Sensation as of a plug in the throat.

[80] Hawking up of mucus in the morning.

Stomach and Abdomen.

Taste putrid or sour.

Food tastes too salt.

Canine hunger and sensation of emptiness in the stomach.

Thirst in the morning or thirstlessness.

[85] After eating, acidity in the mouth and bloatedness of the abdomen.

Aversion to meat and milk, which cause diarrhoea.

Eructations, sour or like rotten eggs, or bitter.

Eructations which cause blood to rise in the mouth.

Nausea, especially in the morning and while fasting or when riding in a carriage.

Stool and Anus.

Constipation ; urging to stool ineffectual, with discharge of mucus or flatulence only.

Stool insufficient, retarded, like sheep-dung.

Insufficient stool, with straining and tenesmus.

Difficult discharge even of the soft stool.

Diarrhoea ; stools green, smelling sour, very debilitating ; after eating boiled milk.

Small jelly-like stools, with tenesmus.

In the rectum and anus, itching, burning and stinging.

Frequent urging to urinate, from pressure on the bladder.

Frequent micturition ; even at night he has to rise frequently.

Involuntary discharge of urine at night, especially in the first sleep.

Burning in the bladder and in the orifice of the urethra.

[125] Smarting in the urethra when urinating.

Urine : turbid, with sediment of red sand ; blood-red, with white sediment and a cuticle on the surface ; very offensive, with much white sediment.

Sexual Organs.

Men. Continued erections at night.

The prepuce ulcerates and itches continually.

Weakness of the genitals ; they perspire profusely, especially the scrotum.

Cutting in the testes.

After coition great weakness in the knees.

Women. Pressure, as if every thing would protrude (with oppression of breathing).

Prolapsus of the uterus, of the vagina.

[135] Induration of the neck of the uterus.

Violent stitches in the vagina, upwards.

Redness, swelling and itching humid eruption on the labiae.

Catamenia too early and too profuse, or too scanty, or suppressed.

During menstruation, depression, toothache, headache, bleeding of the nose, and soreness in the limbs.

[140] Leucorrhoea, of yellow or greenish water, like pus, or of bad-smelling fluids.

Inclination to miscarriages.

Respiratory Organs.

Roughness and soreness of the larynx and throat.

Hoarseness, with coryza and dry cough from titillation in the throat.

Sensation of dryness in the larynx.

[145] Dry cough, especially in the evening, in bed till midnight, frequently with nausea and bitter vomiting.

Cough, especially evening and morning, with salty expectoration ; with rattling of mucus in the chest ; with expectoration only in the morning, or only during the night ; cough only during the day, or cough which wakens one at night.

Expectoration, profuse, purulent, offensive, whitish, green, tasting salt.

Cough, with soreness in the chest ; stitches in the chest or back.

Expectoration difficult, or being obliged to swallow again what had been raised.

[150] Attacks of spasmodic cough, like hooping-cough ; coughs in frequent succession, caused by tickling in the chest or from tickling extending from the larynx to the abdomen, with expectoration only in the morning, evening and at night of yellow, greenish-gray pus, or of milk-white, tough mucus, tasting salt, bitter, putrid or disagreeably sweet, which has to be swallowed again.

Cough worse when at rest, when lying on the (left) side ; from acids.

Itching and tickling in the chest.

Sensation of emptiness in the chest.

[155] Stitch in the left side of the chest and scapula when breathing and coughing.

Dyspnoea ; oppression of the chest and shortness of breath when walking.

Congestion of blood to the chest, with violent palpitation of the heart.

Brown spots on the chest.

Soreness of the nipples.

The chest symptoms cease and are relieved by pressure of the hand on the thorax.

Back and Neck.

[160] Pressure and stitches in the right shoulder-blade.

Stiffness in the small of the back and neck.

Stitches posteriorly above the right hip ; she could not lie on the right side, and when touched it felt sore.

Weakness in the small of the back when walking.

Pulsation in the small of the back.

Perspiration in the back and arm-pit.

Humid tetter in the arm-pit.

Extremities.

Upper. Paralytic drawing and tearing in the arm and arm-pit to the fingers.

Pain as from dislocation in the shoulder-joint.

Swelling and suppuration of the axillary glands.

Flushes of heat at intervals during the day, especially in the afternoon and evening, while sitting or in the open air, generally with thirst and redness of the face.

Profuse perspiration, more after than during exercise.

Continuous, debilitating sweats.

Continuous night and morning sweats.

[235] Perspiration only on the upper part of the body.

Perspiration smelling sour or offensive.

Intermittent fever, with thirst during the chill ; pain in the limbs ; hands and feet icy cold ; the fingers feel as if they were dead ; followed by violent heat and inability to collect one's senses ; this is followed by profuse perspiration.

Skin.

Itching in the face, on the arms, hands, hips, feet, abdomen and genitals, changing to burning when scratching.

Soreness of the skin and humid places in the bends of the joints.

[240] Brown spots, or claret-colored, tetter-like spots on the skin.

Pemphigus ; ring-worms ; boils ; blood-boils.

Ulcers, painless (knuckles, finger-joints, tips of the fingers, joints and tips of the toes), or itching, stinging and burning.

Humid tetters, with itching and burning.

Lymphatic swellings.

[245] Crippled nails.

Conditions.

The pains extend from other parts to the back.

Especially suitable for persons with dark hair and for women, especially during pregnancy, in childbed, and while nursing.

Aggravation in the forenoon and evening ; from mental exertion, from washing in water, from stretching the affected limb, when at rest, sitting, on bending down, after sexual excesses, after eating.

Amelioration from warm air, on and after rising from the bed or seat and drawing up the limbs ; from violent exercise, except riding on horseback.

[250] Bad effects from masturbation.
